How Bontrager Pools are Built
Regardless of what type of pool you're considering, you can be sure that Bontrager Pools will expertly construct it, to exacting standards of quality. Below you'll see the meticulous steps involved in creating a Gunite or Steel Wall/Vinyl Lined pool. Look this over and you'll see why Bontrager-built pools provide years and years of pleasure and enjoyment.
Gunite Pool Construction
Step 1 After the size, shape and depth of your pool has been determined, the ground is then staked and the hole is dug to Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP) specifications. |
Step 2 After we dig your pool we flash a light coat of gunite in the hole to hold the "would be" walls in place. We make a steel wire mesh cage and shoot a dry gunite mix on top at 80# of pressure. The thickness of the wall as seen in Step 3 is between 6-8" with a 10" Bond Beam. |
Step 3 Before the gunite dries, we cut the gunite to the shape we want and the ideal thickness needed. 1" of Gunite is comparable to 2" of concrete which gives the pool superior strength. |
Step 4 After the gunite is in place, we meticulously place customer chosen tile around the waters edge and sometimes on the steps according to customer desire. |
Step 5 When the tile work is done and the pool is back filled, we will then form what will become the deck. The forms are the guides for where the concrete will be poured. Wires and steel rebar will be added to the concrete as necessary. |
Step 6 After the deck is formed, the white styrofoam is stuck to the tile so we can have a nice finished front edge that cantilevers over the waters edge. The deck is poured to approximately 4" or deeper as needed. |
Step 7 When the concrete deck work is finished, we clean the pool and acid wash the gunite to prep it for the marlite finish. |
Step 8 After all the cleaning is done, we will trowel the marblite into a smooth white and blue finish (or color of your choice) approximately 1/2 to 3/4" thick. |
Step 9 This picture shows a complete marblite job ready to be filled with water and enjoyed! Bontrager then cleans up the area and gives you full instructions on how to operate your NEW pool! |
Vinyl Liner Pool Construction
Step 1 After selecting the ideal location and dimensioning of your new Fox Steel-walled pool, Bontrager's staff lays out the area and digs the pool to the required specifications. |
Step 2 When the pool is dug the walls are assembled, plumbed and leveled with the PVC coping installed at this time. |
Step 3 After the walls are set into place there are several yards of concrete poured around the patented x-bracing to serve as a permanent footer for great strength and wall support. |
Step 4 While the footer is poured around the base of the wall and x-braces, great care is taken to make sure concrete is poured around the pipes as to avoid movement that may cause a leak. With x-bracing giving superior strength, this allows us to back fill the pool without the need of adding water. |
Step 5 Once the footer has been poured and set up, dirt is then used to back fill and compact the walls. Next the forms are laid for the concrete deck. |
Step 6 After the deck is formed up we tie steel rebar to the x-braces for strength. Next we pour the concrete into the forms. |
Step 7 After the concrete deck is poured we usually put a broomed finish on the concrete to assure a non-skid surface. |
Step 8 After the deck has set-up, the bottom is prepared for vermiculite, so the pool will have a semi-hard surface underneath the liner. |
Step 9 Once the vermiculite hardens, the crew will put the liner into place using a liner vac to position the liner in place. |
Step 10 After the liner is in place and the suction fittings, filter, light (optional) returns, etc are installed, the pool is then filled with water. |
Step 11 After the pool is completely installed, a Bontrager representative will come out and give you full instructions on how to operate your NEW pool! |
